I watched this tonight, very surprised to see there wasn't already a thread on this since it was critically acclaimed. I guess it could be considered a chick flick, but I still thought it was great. Really good character development and a feel good ending. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence nailed their roles.

Any camel toe shots?Originally posted by YALE View PostIt was pretty good, IMO. The ol' lady and I watched it, and we both liked it. Jennifer Lawrence was in tights for most of it, so I won twice.Originally posted by talismanI wonder if there will be a new character that specializes in bjj and passive agressive comebacks?Originally posted by AdamLXIf there was, I wouldn't pick it because it would probably just keep leaving the game and then coming back like nothing happened.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyBecause fuck you, that's whyOriginally posted by 80coupenice dick, Idrivea4bangerOriginally posted by Rick Modena......and idrivea4banger is a real person.Originally posted by JesterMan ive always wanted to smoke a bowl with you. You based that off of the first fifteen minutes? This movie was more of a dark dramatic comedy; well to me it was. I was actually surprised at how good it was. Bradley Cooper did very well in portraying a bipolar character who isn't willing to let go and move on with his past issues. I can see why Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar for her role. She was the perfect equal to his chaotic life. Both had to deal with catastrophic events and find a way to manage it in their own ways. The football related scenes were funny. Towards the end of the movie you finally see that Cooper's character realizes that he can have control over his life. Im a little drunk but this is what I got out of the movie when I finished watching it a few minutes ago. I highly recommend it.Originally posted by propellerhead View PostI lost interest after the first 15 minutes of the movie. All I heard was a guy ghetto talking -- loud and fast. It was so much more a chick flick than a comedy.
Also Jennifer Lawrence was looking damn good during the dance scenes.
I also dug "Girl from the North Country" playing from both Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.

I sat thru the rest of the movie surfing the web. My gf enjoyed the movie and apologized in the end for subjecting me to a chick flick.
What I saw was a few characters with emotional and/or mental issues and their interactions while dealing with their issues. Don't expect to see car chases, shoot outs, fight scenes or explosions. Just a lot of people being in touch with their emotions. It's a good movie to rent if you want to show a girl you have a sensitive side.Last edited by Leah; Yesterday at 10:18 PM.

I enjoyed this movie. Both Cooper and Lawrence were perfect verbal sparing partners, and she really put on an impressive performance. It sort of reminded me of Garden State, only without a bunch of nutty friends filling in the background. Plus, Lawrence was HOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. It was a bit chick-flicky, and the ending was a little too easy, but overall it was a good film and definitely worth checking out. Hell, Coopers response to her slutty past in the diner scene alone is worth watching the movie. Hilarious.

So with a title like Silver Linings Playbook, did you expect to see any of this?
