Sitting here watching HDNet and one of their live shows is on from 1991. I don't get it. Why were they ever so big? I can barely understand what Mick Jagger is saying. I think they had maybe one or two actually good songs. The rest just blow.

Sympathy for the Devil is epic, and there might be one other that seemed good. The rest of their songs blow.

Did they just ride the coattails of the Beatles?


My son is dancing to the music though.....he is 1.

Shiiiiit...Honky Tonk Women, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Gimmee Shelter, and on and on. They were the "bad boys" and the Beatles were the "good boys".

Hell no, they didn't just ride the coattails of the Beatles. They rocked in the Brian Jones days, then the rocked in the Mick Taylor days. Honestly, though, I don't want to write thirty paragraphs explaining musical context. Just read the wikipedia article, and start digging through their albums. You'll get it.
