Did he give you the instruction manual to? Always nice to have so you can know about any nuances the gun may have.

Meh, not necessary. I'm sure the guys at the GTG can show you how to field strip it, what button works what, etc, and more importantly, if the gun is a real POS or not (beyond the usual smak talk in here).

I have shot one before, but I don't know what gauge it was. How do you know the difference? It is good to know about the shotgun loads not going through dry wall though. I didn't know that.

I don't really have anyone I know that shoots. I just feel like a complete idiot and get nervous around guns in general.

also jsut go get a couple of 100pk's of WWB (winchester white box) and head to the range. 9mm is fine for home defense.

Get Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) for target practice and look for a hollow point (jacketed hollow point - JHP) for defense. Corbon makes a good defense round. There's also Federal and Remington.

I know gun guys that changed their last name because it was the same spelling. Go take it out and shoot it, you can come to the range with me sometime if you like so you're not crowded and can relax. Once you're done we'll swing by Oak Cliff and sell it for a few hundred bucks and we can get you a decent gun.
