well yesterday I found a nice used one for $499 at Cabelas. I put it on lay away only because I just purchased a Ruger LCP (friday) and the wife doesn't know about that one yet. I figure I'll pay it off in a couple of weeks and sneak it into the safe. Anyone have one of these? I can't wait to take it to the range, it's nickel w/black grips....will swap em out for wood to get that classy look.

686 is a great gun, I had a short barrel 686 for a while but traded it off only because I had a 586 (same gun in blue) with a longer barrel and didn't need both. Never had a problem with either and both are good shooters.Comment

I have a 686, 65, and 642 in S&W.
I have a Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag and Ruger GP100 in .357 Mag.
Revolvers are the best all-purpose guns in existence.Comment
