One in the chamber for your shotgun?

Quick question here. Does leaving the shotgun loaded cause spring wear like on a magazine? Do they need to be periodically replaced or do they get weak?

i've never worried about someone breaking in to my house at night while i've been home but i understand it could happen and i am prepared for it.

If you just want to "intimidate" then keep a chainsaw in the bedroom and rack that bitch off.

XD45 Chambered next to the bed, Siaga 12 under the bed incase of Zombie attack and 13 rounds of 45 can't handle it.

Weapon in hand, ready to go and with the safety off it will go bang without any other theatrics.
Originally posted by ThreeFingerPete View PostThat was Craig's point. That you could leave a round chambered, and if you stupidly felt the need to warn the criminal, you could dump the chambered round while "racking" the slide.
Originally posted by Cooter View Postyeah, but Craig didn't come out and call people stupid for doing so... therefore the stupid people couldn't grasp what he was saying

I generally disagree with not having a round chambered, particularly when the only reason you are doing so is so that you can attempt to scare the intruder. There are reasons for which I would agree with not leaving a round chambered, but they are the exceptions imo.

i leave my shotgun completely empty but have 5 rounds on the side saddle, and top saddle.
if i have enough time i wear a bandolier.

Sometimes I forget if I chamber and have a weapon on safe so both the intruder and I can be surprised. Might as well make it fun if you're going to rock n roll.

The only warning I'm giving is that 1st "warning shot" fired at them. Followed by 9 quickly thereafter
