It comes down to what you want really. Saying aks jam more than ars is just hogwash.
I never said (and intentionally said otherwise) that either was more or less prone to. however, now that you mention it I've seen AK's jam more in my personal experience, and I've owned and fired a hell of a lot of them. its primarily due to the steel cased ammo.

I am not arguing either is better. Just my opinion on which I would grab first. Never said I wouldn't throw the ar on my back I am just messing with him because he takes it so personally

Sure I have a battery powered optic on my AR, but I also have tritium filled iron sights that can be used.

If you buy into this thread though, you need an AK with a 75 round drum, a bipod, a PRS stock, side mounted laser, a bayonet, a 2 candle power LED light on it, and a Rambo knife so you can stitch up your bad ass after you kill all the infidels.
You don't "need" a 75rnd drum. I only have one to be honest. And it would only be on the gun if need be. Sounds like you are getting a little butt hurt that the ak is a better survival weapon....

WTSHTF if you run out in the street with an AK and a 75 round drum to play rambo, sure you may take down a lot of people but you will end up dead and then someone else will have your precious AK.

Survival isn't about killing the most people up close and personal, it is about never being found.

Think sniper.... You want to be able to reach out and dispose of someone and then get hidden in a new location. That will be the only way to survive if the SHTF.

Ever get shot in a first person shooter? Well WTSHTF you won't get a new life so easily.

Like I said if you are going to war with a big army of idiots, then you need AKs. Outside of that.... they make fun to own rifles but it isn't a survival rifle at all.
Sorry I am still Loling at this. We do live in texas, I live in the country, and there isnt much 100yrd open areas. A sniper rifle is almost useless for a wtshtf senario unless you are hunting food. How is having an ak with a 75rnd drum a video game? It is a survival rifle, so would an ar. You can do anything with them if need be. If you ask me, you and your sniper rifle are in your little video game. Hiding may be your way of life.... But I would stand ground on my fam's farm.

Personally, if I had an AR, I'd shoot the AR. I know with iron sights you can hit targets fairly accurately over a fairly long distance. My end of the world gun(s) would not have any scopes.

With that said, I own 5 ARs, and only 1 AK, but I could probably shoot the 1 AK more times than the 5 ARs combined and still not have a stoppage due to the weapon being dirty.
