The stopping power of a 7.62 does outweigh a .223. But a 6.8 has the same stopping power. A 308 and 30-06 have a lot more stopping power. And both can be used from a much further distance.
Former military doesn't mean jack and neither does being an LEO. I've seen plenty of guys panic and run when something bad happens. They were in the military too. A lot of people just freeze up. That's another reason why an AK with 75 rounds isn't much other than a heavy toy to play with at the range.
Heck in WWII, most Russian troops never got off more than 5 rounds before they were dead in Stalingrad. Survival is about staying alive not about killing everyone else. You start bustin' caps in everyone you'll end up dead too and fast.
A saw a Dallas LEO stopping speeders in a school zone while a panhandler worked the same corner. Being an LEO is about revenue generation and protecting the government from the citizens. Being former military you should know that.
You can commit crimes all you want if you can't pay. Just ask any panhandler or prostitute.
I don't consider stopping middle class Americans on their daily business and giving them silly citations to generate revenue to be a dangerous job, nor do I consider it keeping anyone safe. It's just a job. And if you don't generate enough revenue then you won't have a job just like any other job.
Next thing I'll be reading how the TSA should have AKs with 75 round drums so they can keep the public safe next time that poor young lady doesn't want her breast milk irradiated too.
Do you honestly think you with an AK in your country locale has any chance of fending off a hungry, stupid (and I mean dumb), pillaging, murderous armed horde once TSHTF? Really? Because if you do, you need to put down the Kool Aid and start making movies, because that's the stuff of hollywood drama.
Sure you could take out a few of them, maybe a bunch of them, but you won't get them all. The harder you fight the more they will think you are worth killing to get your stash.
Mobility..... mobility, stealth and the ability to disappear will be the real keys to survival once TSHTF.
I know you are invincible though, and since you are bulletproof, can always hit someone in whichever eye you want with your AK at 100 yards, and you can probably kill at least 200 zombies with one 75 round drum all while puffing your stoagie, I am done with this conversation.
Heck I can't blame you though. If you didn't think you were bulletproof and invincible you'd probably pick a different line of work.
I though am a mortal man, so I obviously will never be able to convince you that there is a very slim real chance you too might be mortal.

Why is it when I read your post I see you as the fat kid dressed up in battle gear?
You are clueless.
