It probably wasn't an auto only conversion, might have been a select fire genuine conversion.

A select fire conversion only needs the fire control group and the mods that I mentioned. A great many of the AKs out there already have a full auto bolt carrier but I don't believe that the Norinco that this guy was using came with an auto bolt carrier. If you want to get really fancy you just mill a small spot for a detent for the selector lever.
