Anyone have any tips for a gun that has a somewhat tight magwell? So far I'm thinking just modifying a couple 50 or so mags.

What is tight about it? The lockup requires banging the mag? Or they don't drop freely?Originally posted by David View PostAnyone have any tips for a gun that has a somewhat tight magwell? This happens to me on my ar. I have to give them a good tap to get them to stay in the AR otherwise they just plop out. As for not dropping out from the magwell it could be the magazine spring pressure, one of my magpuls did not want to exit because there was not enough pressure on the follower to push itself out, with a quick dissasembly and extending that magazine spring a bit, that problem never arose again.Originally posted by David View PostSome mags are just snug. I don't have to slam them in, but some require a good push. They also have to be pulled to drop out of the magwellFirst hand witness at the failure of public healthcare.

Just differences in the stamping. I have a few I have to bang in, and I have a few I don't have to. I just bang everything in and problem solved! If you mill about .010" off the top of your mag catch, it should solve the problems.Originally posted by David View PostThese are all usgi mags. Some go well, done don't. I suppose that's why in basic training I was trained to give it a good bump. Figured it was pointless since the mags always seemed fine. Guess they actually had a reason.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Wont solve the problem of the mag hanging up on the way out. That just makes it easier to seat the mag.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostJust differences in the stamping. Right, that's one of the problem he's describing. Tight magwell isn't an easy fix. Check for burrs or casting flaws, but more than likely you're gonna live with it, or find a better fitting mag.Originally posted by Pokulski-Blatz View PostWont solve the problem of the mag hanging up on the way out. Chances of it being the magwell are slim. I think that the problem likely lies with shitty USGI mags.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostRight, that's one of the problem he's describing. Olympic and many other manufacturers have had problems with magwell sizing on their casting dies, many of them have put out recalls on them. It isn't that uncommon.Originally posted by Pokulski-Blatz View PostChances of it being the magwell are slim.
