Why would you pay several hundred dollars more than you should for a gun that can't even fire half of the bullets out there? I can't see the pictures but that's a ripoff since it only has a 1/10 twist rate.

It's a 6.8, they fire .270 bullets. Twist rates change with caliber.

I've built a few 6.8s, the 1/10 twist on the RRA limits you to the slower rounds. For the same price you can build a lot better gun.

1:11-1:12 on the twist is what most with the SPC II chamber go for

Depends on bullet geometry and the intended target.

Ignorant on my part but what makes a 6.8 a better round over a .223 for hug hunting? I know it's a "heavier" bullet and had a longer range but is it really worth going 6.8 for hog hunting? Now maybe hunting something that "walks" on two legs at a longer distance I can understand but not for the expense of hug hunting.

6.8 does not have a longer range than a .223 but within 300 yards it has a significantly more amount of energy. In Texas I no longer prefer to hunt with my .308 since the 6.8 has much less recoil, semiauto (for piggies) and has the ability to kill anything with one shot around here. I few weeks ago I took down a 250lb hog with one shot to the neck and 3 more smaller ones throughout the day.

As far as I can understand the round, the goal of 6.8 is to keep the range of 5.56 and try to get some of the stopping power of 7.62 or something like that. Nice mix of the two.

I was also going to buy a 6.8 rifle one day, but decided just to go .308 and reload.

Honestly, Ive looked at the 6.8's and they arent that great. Your actually better of buying a 7.62x39 upper. Ammo is more available in 7.62x39 and it has enough power to kill any game animals in texas.


Actually if you use the 60 gr nossler partions in a 223 it will kill any hog you see also. Federal sells them, for those who dont reload.
