I have. I don't have all the tools to put together a complete upper or I would. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about this.

My purpose is I mainly wanted it for varmit hunting and plinking out to 200 yards. Most of my bolt guns shoot under 1' that's not a must but it would be nice to get some accuracy out of it.

For my needs 6.8 or 300 blk?

Thanks CJ I bought a Budget upper for my first AR 556/223. Although I haven't had any major problems wanted to go the legit route this time.

For your needs a .300 would be the better choice in my opinion. It would also be much cheaper. 6.8 tends to deliver more energy at longer ranges (400+) but within 200 yards .300 really shines. It depends on how much money you want to spend, but DSA sells a cheap 16" .300 blk upper for $300 I believe. MOA accuracy should be pretty easy even with a cheap upper. If you reload .300 BLK is even a better choice as it's super cheap to load.

I just ordered a lower parts kit and black magpul grip and stock from Palmetto for 129.99 (ON SALE NOW) with free shipping!

I need to run it by my better half but I think it is doable. Patio, grill, garage, guns, and beer when the guns get put up. July 7th or 8th look great for me right now and I am off the 14th and 15th too. So there are some options. Maybe the Cobra will be completed by then too.

I didn't pick up a lower this go around but I'd be down for some help swapping the trigger and sights on my XD.

Ok, so since most people have picked theirs up, let's discuss the build party. Once we hammer out a few details we can vote on the specifics, like date and time, etc. I should be good to go for whenever. I can't offer up any tables or chairs, so I can bring/cook food.

How long after the GB do y'all normally do the build party? A month to let everyone acquire parts? A couple months?

I think early to mid July could work. I don't mind hosting again either. Gives me a chance to break in the patio.
