The 17 is a shitload more accurate, but the 22 has almost 3 times the energy.
I bought my .17 for hunting. I bought my 10/22 for cheap plinking.

The savage Mark II and the Model 93 are the LR / Magnum versions of the same rifle.
The .3" group I posted a while back was shot with a bone stock Savage Mark II BVXP and bulk ammunition.
Don't want a $1000 .5 MOA .22? Don't expect a semi auto.

Apples to oranges... $0.29 per round for .17 isn't nearly as cost effective as .22LR. Might as well get an AR and start reloading at that price...

Of course it's a bolt gun and not a semi but I have more fun with it just because it's so accurate. Like I said I'll probably buy a used 10/22 in the future that someone has already done up.

Spend a couple bucks on it and its a whole new gun (at least it feels like it). I love mine now and its as fun as any gun I own.
