The reason I like it is because I'm usually shooting with experienced hunters. Most of the time low fliers or easy picks will go down. I find a much better niche getting the birds others miss, or the high fliers. Last season I nailed a white tip about 80 yards out about 20' off the ground, I almost didn't even try. The range can be impressive.Originally posted by Pewter Y2K Z28 View Postyeah, no shit, lol"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I'm the exact opposite, especially if I dont have a dog. If I cant shoot them and they dont fall with in a few yards of me I wont shoot. Of course, I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to the dove huntingOriginally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostThe reason I like it is because I'm usually shooting with experienced hunters. I've never dove hunted with a dog - I plan on buying one soon though. I've never lost a bird - once I fall one I keep my eye on it's land until I'm there. I really, really hate it when someone loses a bird.Originally posted by Pewter Y2K Z28 View PostI'm the exact opposite, especially if I dont have a dog. 80 yards!! I think I need to learn me some ballistics regarding chokes and doves and dove load. I knew you could take them further out using a full choke but wouldn't have thought that far. I mainly use a modified choke. I always seem to have difficulty figuring out how much to lead.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostThe reason I like it is because I'm usually shooting with experienced hunters. If you *think* you are leading enough, lead just a little more. Be sure to follow through.Originally posted by GeorgeG. View PostI always seem to have difficulty figuring out how much to lead."A bad day hunting beats a good day at work"

It also depends on your shot as well, the longer the range, the bigger the shot you need.Originally posted by GeorgeG. View Post80 yards!!
