we think maybe up to a week went by. we would go by and check the lock but what we didn't know was that the lock had been cut and they had access when they wanted. you could have poured a concrete room and if they had a week to themselves they could have chipped into it with hammers and took what's in it.
its like the guy who took his viper to huffines to get some tire put on it and the guy from the tire shop totaled it when he came to get it. little did the customer know that huffines didnt have a tire changer big nuff for the viper tires. after that wreck they went and bought one. there is a certain degree of trust you expect with any service you pay for.
they said they had 7 days of tape and when they went to get it - it had been written over. duh! there was a theft one week earlier at the same facility and you think management could have told us that so we could be on the look out? duh. for 8 years we had guns in storage elsewhere, many people do and for over 30 years never had a gun ever stolen.

It has gotten a lot of media coverage so far.
How soon after the theft did ya'll make the discovery? Or did the unit company discover it?

There was a gun store that got here in Bryan a few months back and ATF started finding the weapons all over arizona and california. Suspected a ring out of houston stole them and moved them west.
Lots of storage units being hit around here as well with all the students heading home.
I had my enclosed trailer at a storage place a few years back and it got broken into. They took my generator and a bunch of tools. Cops found a hole in the wood fence behind the trailer that the storage staff pointed out....turns out the generator would not fit through it nor were there any tire marks from it on the ground. Pretty sure that was an inside job but they had no proof.

I'm suspicious on security guard. Most I've seen had on-site personnel who stayed there as a resident. However, you'd be lucky if the knew what was going on in the compound after a certain time and much less likely to be able to call the po-po. I checked into most of the in that east Plano/Wylie/Murphy/Richardson area about 1.5 years ago and none had real guards. (That may have changed)Originally posted by mikec View PostSo there's a gate leading in with a code, then a building with interior units with a code on the door, then a padlock. And security guards as well? damn!
Hope you guys get these cocksuckers.
They usually are full of cameras to help rent out there storage units. Just probably not testing or maintenance done to it. So, I could legitimately see their being no recordings. Of course, I could also just see them deleting it as well.
For the record and by my book the stuff was still secured and stolen. It should be no less secure than any gun store on a public street.
Actually, reading the article - I used that same storage place for awhile until the mouse crap got too bad in the storage units. Offices off to the left seemed nice enough.

What are they comparing the dna to? Did they go get swabs from all the employees? If it is a storage unit, I am sure there are hundreds of different peoples prints and dna in there. If these people were smart enough to get around cameras and other security measures, I am willing to bet they also had on some gloves.Originally posted by sheepdog concept View Postto answer some questions for you..
inside job according to local, federal and myself - atf is on it and has dna, fingerprints and other evidence. sucks that dna takes 3 months to get back so they say.
thank you all
