I had the compact PT140, sold it after several FTE with various ammo. For $350 get yourself a XD, Glock, or something similar. I've owned 2 Taurus semi autos and sold them for the fact that I could not trust them. There are better guns for similar prices.

It's holstered , I was kinda being half sarcastic . But regardless a truck is not the ideal environment for firearm storage . I think a 3-400 dollar gun that is reliable is perfect for the application .

I wouldn't want any gun regularly bouncing and sliding around in my truck, "cheap" or not, or anything for that matter. I have a rubber mat in the armrest of mine (not that I can nary anymore here in Cali), I'm sure that you could find an easy way to secure a holster to the inner side of that door pocket, no more noise, won't go flying as easily in a minor wreck, and it'll be even easier to get to should the need arise.

I've had my 24/7G2 9mm for about 7-8 months .. and had about 800-900 rounds down the pipe and it has not failed to fire .. or failed to feed one round.. ammo of all kinds.
I paid 360 for mine new at the market hall gun show.

Earth to gun owners: hot reloaded .40 and a non fully supported chamber can cause, problems. It's not just a glock thing.

Ive put thousands of rounds through glocks with no problem.

I have owned nothing but Taurus for awhile now although I have had the chance to shoot several guns, I have to say for the price you cannot beat the Taurus. Their 24/7 frame was gun of the year in 2006. They have some issues with their firearms like the 738 slide not locking back after the last round...maybe it is not as accurate as another firearm but I have never seen anything that resembled the gun pictured above.

I know they also have the ability to produce every part in house. This goes for every firearm they manufacture hence the ability to keep the cost down. In this case, with Taurus, the price is NOT reflective of the quality. Just my opinion but when I see the same stories or pictures posted (not speaking directly to you Alex) and it has been the same stories or pictures for some time, I had to say something lol.

Can companies not change for the better?

edit: I will say their 1911 frame guns are WAY closer to a higher end 1911 than their polymer guns are to other polymer guns

Dont get me wrong, I love my Taurus and part of that is the price. They are less expensive and better looking than most guns in the same price range and their quality has improved alot. The main complaint I hear and have myself is the trigger quality...The only one I have purchased and did not like was a Taurus 24/7 OSS Tactical that was just too heavy in the front...

The 9mm is almost the same price as .40 so I am not sure if that would be a concern unless you are using the round for something specific but for cost, I would not worry. If cost is a concern, get a .22

Anyways, good luck and if you get that Taurus down to around $300....jump on it because at that price, you cant go wrong
