Same everywhere I hunt too (TX/PA). A Nikon Prostaff 3-9 or 4-12 is plenty, usually at lowest setting is where it stays. The challenge is shooting between brush/trees...etc.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostDamn! In Arkansas it's to wooded. Normally 25-50 yards max 100. However in live in the desert now. I would probably need a better gun to shoot that distance. I have a mosberg 30-06Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

It is kinda on the ugly side but the short barrel and mag system make it great out in the woods before this I hunted a Rem 788 308 and still take it on occasion I love having a mag system so I don't have to worry about carrying loose shells around Plus the "ching sling" is nice once you get used to itOriginally posted by dee View PostAlways thought those Steyr rifles were some kind of ugly, but have never heard anything bad about them.

My Remington 600 .350 is great because it's light and portable. 18" barrel and only weighs 6.6lbs and it'll take anything in North America. It will also take your shoulder off.Last edited by CJ; 10-08-2012, 03:44 PM."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

see I only see an up side to a DBM carry one or two extras not ammo rattle easy to unload when you get back to the truck(only have to eject one round) plus the ability to "top off" so you have full cap mag when your out walkin only downside I can see is if you drop it you loose it which I've heard happen to guys with 7600 but can't see with either the 788 or the steyr both have very positive and not quick mag releases

my setup to take to NM for long range is either a 700 bdl in 308 or 7mag though it's been a while since I had the ability to go out there
