So I'm looking at a Springfield Armory XDm 3.8 9mm Compact over at Bachman Pawn for $579 (is this a reasonable price?) and wondering what advantages (if any) it has over the the plain XD 9mm Compact other than the grip texture being more aggressive.

that is a good price. I would not get the compact though.. just too small a grip. the regular size is just fine. Nearly got my parents one of these but settled on a standard xd9.Originally posted by Jose View PostSo I'm looking at a Springfield Armory XDm 3.8 9mm Compact over at Bachman Pawn for $579 (is this a reasonable price?) and wondering what advantages (if any) it has over the the plain XD 9mm Compact other than the grip texture being more aggressive.

That's what is great about the 3.8 it comes with a ext. mag clip for shooting at the range or the short clip for concealed carry, best of both world's.Originally posted by aggie97 View Postthat is a good price. Cool man. Been a Glock owner forever until last year when I bought a Service Model .45 XD and really liked it. Wanting a 9mm so I can shoot cheaper as well as have a lighter weight gun.Originally posted by bybotie View PostI have a XDM 3.8 in. 40 Cal. Great gun, match grade barrel is main difference over XD.
I'm used to carrying a Glock 27 so I'm OK with a small grip for concealment.Originally posted by aggie97 View Postthat is a good price. I would not get the compact though.. just too small a grip. the regular size is just fine. Nearly got my parents one of these but settled on a standard xd9.

Pretty good price. Did you buy it from a local dealer at the show?Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostI bought my 3.8 9mm at the gun show for $530 otd back when they first came out.. The xdm models have the switchable size grips and the match grade barrel. I love the gun and its my wife's favorite to shoot.

Did some research this morning and found the same thing. Thanks man.Originally posted by motoman View PostTarget barrel

Any ideas of pricing around here locally on this gun? Compared it to Buds and it's the same price. Just haven't decided if the extra $120-140 extra is worth it for the XDm over a similar XD.

I really like the XD's, but this sure is getting close to the price of a Sig P938, which I think is a much better gun. But, the XD is still cheaper, regardless."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I don't know why but I'm just not digging the P938. Definitely want a plastic gun and I sorta have my heart set on the XDm but who knows, economics might win me over and I get the XD.Originally posted by CJ View PostI really like the XD's, but this sure is getting close to the price of a Sig P938, which I think is a much better gun. I just bought my P938 about 2 weeks ago. I took it to the range right from the store and I had 4 failed trigger resets on the first 50rds. fired. I'm going to shoot some more rounds through it this weekend after giving it a good cleaning/oiling, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to send it in for repair after reading several post on the gun forums about the same issue.Originally posted by CJ View PostI really like the XD's, but this sure is getting close to the price of a Sig P938, which I think is a much better gun. Aside from those failures I really like the gun. Although it's going to take several hundred rounds with no failures for me to feel confident with carrying it.
