Earlier in the episode the sobbing dentist takes his boys out to kill a goat, he slices its throat, bleeds it out while doing a pretty weird prayer, and then he wipes blood on his kids faces as a right of passage. I should remind you this is the same guy who is sobbing and throwing up after hearing a gunshot a few hours later.
