not sure how it compares, but i had a .40 s&w fired right next to my fucking head with no warning and no protection and had no desire to cry/vomit/etc.

LOL. While I enjoy the show, some of it is just difficult to watch because of nonsense like that.
That said, I did fire my 44mag redhawk inside a very large tin building (without hearing protection) once, over 15yrs ago. That was the last time, heck of a lesson.

Having some shit handy is one thing, going nuts is another. You're going to fucking die at some point anyway, and it won't be a particularly pleasant existence until you do.Originally posted by CJ View PostSo you're advocating for irresponsibility? I think anyone that doesn't have preparations to sustain their life for even a short period of time (a few months) is ignorant and a fool. Common sense my friend, being prepared doesn't make you an idiot. Dedicating your life to it is pretty crazy though.

I've done it with a .45. Know what I didn't do? Blame the pistol or cry. From what I've seen, every now and then there's a nugget but by and large it's a show of what not to do.Originally posted by CJ View PostThese guys are doomed IRL. Both of them struck me as being complete idiots. The thing about this show is anyone who is a serious level headed "prepper" isn't going to be on a national network's hit TV show.
No doubt. People are just advertising for trouble. The one episode that the family basically had a small working farm and stock pond in the middle of a packed subdivision. I'm thinking...ya, they're going to get overrun in the first 10 minutes.Originally posted by HarrisonTX View PostWell, looks my my doomsday plan is not prep anything, and drive to this doc's ranch, and waste him from 350 yards, and just use all his hoarded stuff.

That kinda shit would be absolutely impossible to defend. Middle of a subdivision?Originally posted by GhostTX View PostFrom what I've seen, every now and then there's a nugget but by and large it's a show of what not to do.

At the least the doc on his 700 acres would see him flying down his dirt road in my duramax from a couple 1000's yards away.DE OPPRESSO LIBER

They were in the North East somewhere weren't they?
They had a semi-similar group in the mid east somewhere in an old Nike Missile bunker. Bunch of old burnt out hippies sitting around in the a circle playing instruments. His only defense was rusty old SMLE it looked like.2004 Suzuki DL650

Believing the fact that no reality show is 100% real, this falls into that category. I can't believe for a second hearing loss was sustained when the rifle was fired. Seems like nothing more than scripted drama. 140dB with hearing protection isn't anything to cry about.
