I had looked at a couple of those, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of 5.45.

I have several 47's already. I like that the 5.45 is cheaper, but unfortunatly on the flipside mags are more expensive.Originally posted by Jimbo View PostI had looked at a couple of those, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of 5.45."You don't so much drive it, more like poke it with a sharp stick and channel the fury when you piss it off."

Posted on a couple boards asking about the financial viability of building just one or two of these, and damn near EVERYONE was like "fuck no run for the hills" kind of attitude. You MUST have mills and presses and all sorts of other bling tools to build one. Did a little searching and found this:
I'm gonna give it a shot. If I can find someone local that has a press or drill I'll be game, but otherwise I think I can handle this kind of build!

Yeah, but who care? it's a damn AK. I have never cleaned my mosin nagant, ever. (if I decide to sell it, it's cleaned religiously).Originally posted by Jimbo View PostI know the surplus is really cheap, but it's corrosive isn't it?"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Sorry for sounding like such a dumbass here but let me see if I got this straight...
This kit with barrel $329.95 (1 922r part)
This 80% receiver blank $22.95 (this count as 922r compliant?)
This receiver rail set $9.95
These rivet kits $17.15 (includes center support and gas piston rivet)
This Tapco trigger group $28.95 (3 922r parts in it)
That is all I need correct? Heck that is only $408.95!92 LX 5.0

Plus a 12 ton press, riveting jig, tack welder, torch, go-no go headspace gauges, drill and drill bits. But there's room to improvise with the AK.Originally posted by bobs94formula View PostSorry for sounding like such a dumbass here but let me see if I got this straight...

When you buy an ak47 blank and have it machined to become a functioning reciever, what steps are required to be legal? Is there any paperwork?03 cobra

From my understanding it doesn't have to go to an FFL since it's a blank. It falls under the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, an unlicensed individual may make a "firearm" as defined in the GCA for his own personal use, but not for sale or distribution. You can legally build it without any intent to sell it.''Originally posted by brandon01rt View PostWhen you buy an ak47 blank and have it machined to become a functioning reciever, what steps are required to be legal? If you're building an ak47 I'm pretty sure you'll want the AKM receiver set, center support, and gas piston rivet sets. I haven't built one but I believe that's the correct combo, someone correct me if i'm wrong.Originally posted by brandon01rt View Postso for each polish ak47 blank i would need
1 polish tantal ak rivet set?
1 AK Center Support for 1mm Receiver?
1 AK Gas Piston Rivet?
plus the parts kitsOriginally posted by JesterEvery time you see the fucking guy....show him your fucking dick.. Just whip out your hawg and wiggle it in his direction, put it away, call him a fuckin meatgazer, shoot him the bird and go inside.
