You don't get off the list, because he wouldn't be on it (assuming he isn't a terrorist). It's simply an alert that is generated off of the main list based on some similarity. However, the OFAC list would not prevent you from getting a loan, and would not prevent you from getting a gun. To my knowledge the only way you can be declined for a weapon is if you have a felony or recent domestic battery charge.
