Yeah Im for it because I like that if I do happen to show my CH, I dont want to be breaking the law. I wouldnt want to just have a gun on my hip out in the open, but under my untucked shirt or jacket, sure.

Visit ODMP.com and look at all the officers that were targets.Originally posted by David View PostIs there any proof of this?
Could it also mean first deterrent and the perp moves on to somewhere else?
Military members are frequently targeted.
If you have someone set on evil, eliminating the opposition is easy when you identify yourself as a target.
If I were bent on killing, is take out anyone I knew was carrying and confiscate thier guns and ammo.

Exactly the reason I think open carry is reckless. You could have saved people but you made yourself a target.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostVisit ODMP.com and look at all the officers that were targets.

I've actually responded to a couple of "person with weapon" calls that turned out to be CHL'ers that were printing. A little on scene education and the problem was solved without any paperwork being generated.Originally posted by CJ View PostThe reason I am for this is because that means as a CHL holder you can't get some stupid ass printing charge. But I think the premise behind open carry is silly and reckless.

Same here but still would conceal more often than not. I would like the option though as I could carry my gun with light easily to movies and suchOriginally posted by IHaveAMustang View PostI'd open carry with Jacket's. That way the jacket covers it most of the time, but it's not just out there hanging out for all the world to see 100% of the time like my junk.

Do you know of any officers that have persecuted people like that?Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostI've actually responded to a couple of "person with weapon" calls that turned out to be CHL'ers that were printing. And I'm not surprised in the least that you did not.

I've talked to a few judges who would no PC someone on a arrest because they were printing.Originally posted by mikec View PostDo you know of any officers that have persecuted people like that?

Does anyone have a legitimate argument for open carry? I don't think I've ever heard one."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I think this is a matter of perspective and personal preference. I know you'll probably disagree. I'm on the bandwagon with just wanting the freedom and slack from printing. However, "because I want to" is a legitimate argument to me.Originally posted by CJ View PostDoes anyone have a legitimate argument for open carry? I don't think I've ever heard one.
There have been a few threads that were at least derailed and went on this topic. The general consensus is what you're seeing here. Some on one side saying it is stupid, some on the other but a lot of folks in the middle - but would prefer it to be legal as opposed to illegal and their reasons vary.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostI remember a thread concerning this on the old board, and I'm OK with it, but have some concerns. One scenario that worries me is a perp just flat overpowering someone (an older person?), and taking his gun away from him.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

That's another good point, any crazy mofo can just walk up and take your gun.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostI remember a thread concerning this on the old board, and I'm OK with it, but have some concerns.
