Sad, the FS2000 really is a cool rifle that is fun as hell to shoot.

The good:
-Super reliable
-Incredibly easy to clean and take down
-Accurate as you could want
-1/7 twist
-Cool optic integrated (optional)
-Ambi (rare in bullpups)
-Ejects from the front and can trap cases for reloaders or assassins

The bad:
-Unconventional layout
-Trigger
-Trap door to check the chamber
-Pinned muzzle device
-No bolt hold open
-Only likes GI mags unless you remove the gasket in magwell

The ugly:
-Just look at it

Additional bad: unnecessarily large and futuristic

It makes absolutely no sense why it's housing is so large. When you pull the action out it's tiny. It's a small rifle that wears a fat suit. And futuristic - it looks like a laser blaster. No other gun that I know of looks more like a laser blaster than the FS-2000. I get the distinct feeling the rifle was designed by an artist first, and then handed off to the engineers.

IMO, the AUG is and always will be the gold standard of bullpups. I have not shot a Tavor yet, but I imagine that it will be hard to top the Steyr.

Whenever you introduce polymers there seems to be two trains of thought. Build a rifle with an action and attach a stock and barrel to it, then design furniture to fit the shooter.

The other train of thought seems to be design a housing furniture and put the action INSIDE of that. There are advantages to both approaches, but to me it seems like the housing approach adds unnecessary weight and bulk.

I look at things from a minimalist perspective. All components of the action should be attach to each other and nothing that isn't completely functional should be omitted. The AR15 is a great example of this as just about every single piece of that weapon has a function.

If CDNN has FS2000's for crazy cheap on clearance, I might grab one. I just can't stand what they price modern, mostly plastic guns at. I don't see the cost in them, vs. older guns that are more material and labor intensive.

Rumor correction: FN says they only stopped production for now, they retooled to make a run of PS90s and P90 rifles. However they did decide to discontinue the model with the integral optic

They quit publishing a catalog, temporarily. I don't understand why they can't just have a regular damn website. In fact, the whole gun world, barring a few used gun market sites, AR15 oriented sites, and Bud's, is basically bereft of a real website. It's not hard to track inventory. They just act like it is.
