It's beyond absurd. NFA tax stamps have jumped drastically in the last few yrs, i.e. we're paying shit loads more tax money which is good for the economy, yet they want to fuck is even more. $200 tax stamps are a money making monster, bunch of fucking morons

I would gather it's probably one of the smallest income streams the government has.Originally posted by phaux View PostIt's beyond absurd. Based on the numbers in David's other post referencing 1.1million transfer request at $200 each you're looking at almost a quarter billion dollars in one year. Comparatively I'm sure there are many other categories of tax income that are much much larger, it's still not a number to scoff at and I'm sure it vastly outweighs what it costs to pay the handful of workers in the NFA branch.Originally posted by CJ View PostI would gather it's probably one of the smallest income streams the government has.

Why be happy with "almost a quarter billion" when you can have a cool half Billion?Originally posted by phaux View PostBased on the numbers in David's other post referencing 1.1million transfer request at $200 each you're looking at almost a quarter billion dollars in one year. AOW transfers are only $5, and IIRC, dealer to dealer transfers aren't taxed.Originally posted by phaux View PostBased on the numbers in David's other post referencing 1.1million transfer request at $200 each you're looking at almost a quarter billion dollars in one year. That is correct, but according to this bill the transfer tax for AOWs will be increased to $200 at first, then adjusted yearly for inflation just like other items.Originally posted by Nash B. View PostAOW transfers are only $5, and IIRC, dealer to dealer transfers aren't taxed.
Also here's a fun fact, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics inflation calculator if the $200 transfer tax had kept up with inflation you would be paying $3400 for a tax stamp today.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.
