I contacted my state representatives, and asked for an explanation. Doubt I'll get anywhere, but whatevs.

Awesome. Last month my mom started tackling the last unknown line of the family tree on my dads side since his mom died when he was an infant and found my great however many times Grandfather was the first President of Rhode Island, John Coggeshall. I thought all the interesting stuff was on my moms side, like the Revolution and Witch Trials. Going to be really interesting finding out more about this and when they got to the states. Moms side left Britain in the early 1600s and got here, looks like this side were Pilgrims.
