I shot well, just didn't shoot as accurate as the shield out of the box (loaner guns). I'm 6'4 and have bigger hands, and the shield also felt better in my hand.

I also have a S&W Chief's Special in 9mm, that is very similar to the shield in size, but the shield was thinner and lighter, and shot just as well as a the full metal frame gun.

I don't particularly feel under gunned carrying the 380 it just doesn't fit my hands overly well. My 45 is a full frame 1911 not small by any means but thin. I'm 6' and around the 190 lb area so it isn't overly hard to conceal.

I really like the P238 but just dont feel the round is large enough, though bullet placement is key.

I have recently (2 weeks) found myself a bit curious about the XDs in .45, it is a bit less expensive (marginal) than the G29, seems a bit slimer as well.

So what I am gathering from everyone so far is that it is totally preference, nothing more. I guess the 10mm could have a over penetration issue if you are not carefull.

Why 9mm guys? Why not 40, 10...45ACP? Size, preference or some facts that perhaps I am not aware of?

I am a small frame guy at 5'8" and 130lbs. It fits my hand really well and should be easier to conceal than my .40

I was looking at the XDs in .45 though, I kick myself for selling all of my .45ACP reloading stuff back in the day.

What are ya'lls thoughts on reloading combined with personal defense? Any extra red tape? I figure if I get a gun I already reload for, great, though I would not want that to come up in any litigation as a negative. If I have to buy ammo for my CCW, then that also could be a win as less litigation if the above is true.

    started a topic CCW's

    CCW's

I have read the reviews online, have not held many of the options out there (Sig, Ruger, Glock...etc) though I do plan on doing this at the next Ft. Worth gun show on the 15-16 of this month.

Though I would like to get some feedback as I know most of yall carry an assortment of weapons between all of our members.

My first thought was G29 as I load 10mm and this would allow me a CCW while consolodating my reloading supplies. However, I am not a large frame guy and am more short and stalky (5'7"/ 185lbs) so I started thinking about size and thickness of the weapon (single stack vs. double stack).

    So, I guess my question is "I am about to buy a G29, any reasons I should go for a P238, 938, LCP, Khar40, S&W Bodyguard...etc?"
Working...
