  • I Need Ideas For A Gift

My brothers 30th birthday is coming up and I'd like to get him a nice gun, something that he'd have forever. I've been thinking about a Wilson Combat or Ed Brown 1911 or some type of nice rifle preferably tacticool. What Would DFWMustangs Do? Budget is $2,000 maybe a little more for the right gun.

Handled an Ed Brown this past Sunday. I'd take it to the grave if one was given to me!

Wilsons start at about $2,500 so that may be a no go. If you want a production .45acp get a mark 23. Under 2k and literally the most capable automatic pistol money can buy in terms of accuracy, durability, and reliability (30,000 rounds of +p ammo was required of them, as was clearing a squib with a new round with no accuracy change).

As for rifles at 2k I would get an AUG. They are just cool.

Unfortunately I haven't been lucky enough to fondle one but the reviews on them are outstanding.

Excellent! I will look into those. His birthday is in May so I have some time to find something.

There's a Mark 23 hanging out in my local gun shop. If you want to go check it out with me, let me know.

You *might* be able to land a python with 2k if he would be interested in a fine revolver or collector piece. It's about as tactical as you can get for a revolver. The Mark 23 is also a good option, very nice pistols.

                    2. Or a rifle
                    3. Tacticool was specified as a preference

You already know what he wants, a .308 AR.

I know I would appreciate getting a very nice, old Government 1911. Great for collectors and fun to shoot.

Otherwise, a nice old western revolver.

Somebody posted a pic of a really slick benelli shotgun in the gun porn thread. I'd probably want a sick 1911 though.

                            Edit .Benelli supersport 12ga

Cant go wrong with a Python, MK23, HK P7 of some kind, or decent WWII 1911 when it comes to handguns. Rifles would be AUG (Alex is right, they are cool), M1A, Daewoo K1, Garand, or a FAL.
