WTF? The prices jumped during the "ammo scare" and have not came down. Best I could do on target loads was $6 a box. I know compared to other ammo that is still cheap, but damn.

Yes the prices have not returned yet. In 2012 I paid $29.99 for a flat, so $3 a box roughly. Hard to say if we're seeing a slow return to a normal price, or if it's inflation."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

None of the lead being used in ammunition was being produced in the US to my knowledge. If this were true steel shot would be generally unaffected, which it isn't.Originally posted by svo855 View PostLead is no longer being produced in the USA."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

It's not the cost, it's the principle. Shot shells have doubled in price but because they are still cheap no one seems upset. The manufacturers won't lower prices until they see demand drop so we now get to pay double. It's like paying $40 for a box of Critical Defense.

Who's to say that's true? How do you know that isn't inflation, or a rise in the cost of production?Originally posted by bybotie View PostIt's not the cost, it's the principle.
