Bought my first XD today

I don't want a thumb safety on my duty gun... If it did have a safety I would not have it engaged. The trigger safety is enough for me. Don't need anything to complicate it in high stress situations.

My new XDm does not have a thumb safety.

So what's the deal with the thumb safety? Is it an option that you can buy it like that or is it standard on certain models? I like it and if you don't you just leave it off. Still haven't gotten a chance to go shoot it but hopefully sometime this week.

Already order a Comp-Tac Infidel Holster with the Shirt Tucker Strut for concealed carry, can't wait for it to come in this week. I've used the stock belt holster that comes with it a few times last week because I could get away with it using a long sweater and jacket.

They only offered it on the 4" full-size xd45. From what I understand, it was made an option to meet the requirements for certain LE departments.
