Ya, I was stationed at Polk for 2 years. My mind was blown when I first walked in to a gas station and all the counter shelves behind the register were stocked with every type of hard liquor imaginable. Hard liquor in the Wal-Marts, and as you said, daquiri places everywhere you look. Those people love their booze.

I grew up in CA and every grocery store had a liquor section. In fact, gas stations / mini-marts were always referred to as liquor stores. As in "Hey, I'm going to run up to the liquor store for a gatorade and some milk, you need anything?".
