Just practice and work it into your routine. It's not that difficult even in a hurry. Not like it's a 92FS safety!

I don't use the safety. My concern is the possibility that the safety could accidentally engage during the course of daily carry and in an extreme situation where I might need the weapon to save my life or the life of another that I might draw the weapon to use in a split second and find it engaged..which could make the difference between life and death. Everyone has a preference on a safety...I prefer for myself no safety on a CCW. My finger is the safety..either I intend the gun to fire at its target or I don't pull the trigger.

wife carries the shield 9mm, I carry the .40. I also can't stand the damn grip safety on the XD. Not sure if the XDS has it but I hate it.

Her 9 is the no safety version and my .40 has the safety only because I got a smoking deal on it used. Not a big deal but have to remember it's there. Easy thumb access though.

9mm shield shoots nice. .40 is a bit snappy but accurate.

I would like to try out an XDs in .45acp side by side with my Shield .40 to see how it feels to me. I've shot several Glocks in 9mm and .40, a buddies Beretta 92F, my old Norinco 9mm, my Kel-Tec 9mm, and a few others..and I'm quite happy with my Shields trigger and reset.

I have a shield 9 and I love this thing. A few weeks ago me and a friend were at the range and we rented a xds he wanted to try out along with the shield both me and him like the shield better. It's been my daily carry since I got it. And if I hadn't just replaced it today with a kimber uc2 it would still be.
