  • Red Dot Opinions Needed

Looking for opinions on why or why not to run a particular Red Dot. I always like magnification, but realize this will be a short range gun and being used as a pistol affects eye relief.

Building a 300blackout Pistol and trying to decide on optics. I'm leaning towards the Strikefire because of price, auto off in the event I forget to turn it off, & works with Nightvision (have a unit if I can fashion a mount).

I'll possibly SBR down the road if I like the upper. Planning to run sub-sonic so nothing further than @ 150 yards, etc.

Primary Arms sells good, inexpensive red dots. I think this will be echoed a lot.

The Micro Dot? I've looked at those during the specials before and looked again last night. They were @ $80 I believe. Palmetto has the Strikefire for $120 right now. Thats the cheapest I've seen those so far.

Small MOA, Parallax free, good mount are the things you want.

The strikefire2 is good. Vortex also makes a 3x magnifier with a flip mount.

If you are going to go primary arms- do the holosun. The auto on feature is worth the cash. Pick up your rifle and the optic is ready to go every time.

Yale, is this the Aimpoint style (similar to strikefire less options)? https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...mm-red-dot.htm

Mustang Revival, Small MOA dot is considered 5 and under, 4 and under, etc?

SBForttech I dug a little but didn't find any info on what was different from the Strikefire to the Strikefire II, any insight? There's a Strikefire II fairly close to me on Craigslist I could do a trade/partial trade on.

In your opinion it's not worth the addition coin for red\green ability, auto off, and push button controls over the twist dial?

Found this one for $95 Shipped, this is Strikefire Gen I

I have never handled the SF1. I do know that the controls are rear facing on the SF2. I read reviews on the SF2 I bought and guys were complaining about the SF1 controls being too easily activated.

Just watched the video for the SF2 on Vortex's site. The II has only 2 control buttons where the SF1 uses 3, the left middle button cycles night vision setting. Aside from that they look to be the same. I didn't dig into any reviews.

Sure. I was under the impression we were going for the minimum number of dollhairs. My bad.

I am all about saving money where and when I can, but like in this instance I don't mind spending 25 more if the Vortex has benefits worth it. I've heard and read nothing but good things about the Primary Arms stuff, mostly all from here, but I value the opinions. I only lean towards the Strikefire because it seems like a nice bang for the buck with it's options from the other stuff I've looked at over the last month or so.
