        • Hey guys quick Question.
im thinking of making a sum what of a long rifle. With the lowers we paid for.
Can someone tell me a list of calibers a standard AR.lower would except?

Now I know I would need a matching barrel. Bolt. Upper. THANKS

What's the purpose for the rifle? Debatably, 5.56 is going to be your best choice unless you plan in doing very long range shooting or hunting medium to large game. Ammo for other calibers are much more expensive (except 7.62x39 and surplus calibers). Also, non5.56 AR parts are more expensive and will drive up the price of your build.

would a 223 make a good 500yr round. on the AR platform with the right scope and some trigger time?

With the right setup, yes. Do you have a place to regularly shoot 500 yards? Most ranges don't go past 100. If you're dead set on an AR for that, look up the Army's SDMR. That's a pretty simple build that'll get you there.
