x2, sight tool and laser bore sight.Originally posted by AnthonyS View PostI have an mgw pro sight tool and slide clamp for 1911s. You can do it yourself in a few minutes. Honestly, I'd rather just pay somebody to do it (especially since none of you guys are local to me). When I start figuring out time and gas to pick up the sight tool and return it, plus buying a laser sight bore, I'll be cheaper just getting someone to do it and waiting on them to finish.
Guess I need to start shopping for sights before I do anything next.

Some 1911 is a bigger PITA than others... Kimbers are notorious for having tight fitting rear sights, and some (like Baer) have a hidden pin on the front sight that have to be drilled out.
I recently used Alchemy Custom Weaponry to replace sights on a Baer. XS Tritium/10-8 plain rear. Great work, fair price and quick turn around. They are on FB and will reply via FB message.

Just down from your office is Andrew. I use him on the things I do not want to tackle. He is from South Africa and knows his stuff. On Kimball, north of 114.

Ain't that the truth! I haven't though about mailing my slide somewhere to get the sights mounted but that may be just as cost effective as driving somewhere as I don't have anything local to me.Originally posted by txminime View PostSome 1911 is a bigger PITA than others... Ah, i forgot about that shop although I've never been there (someone either posted it here or I stumbled across it somewhere). I also came across this shop while searching the internet that I've never been to before either; Advanced GunWorks in Roanoke. Anyone ever hear of them before?Originally posted by likeitfast55 View PostJose,

Guess the first thing I need to do is get some sights ordered. I need to measure mine as what I've been reading is that Kimber had a couple of different heights on their guns
I'm looking at getting some 10-8 sights but haven't decided on tritium front or fiber optic.

Thanks for the warning Randy!Originally posted by likeitfast55 View PostWent to Advanced once to get a 1911 ramp adjusted. Kept gun 6 weeks and all they did was polish it. Charge for polish ---- 150.00 bucks. Gun still jammed. Brought it to Andrew.....ramp was still off by 10 degrees. All fixed and runs smooth now. Charge -- 25 bucks.
