    Got the M16 dialed in today.

    I got to the range around midday and decided I wasn't leaving until it was shooting some good groups at 100 yards. Took me a while to get the sights dialed in, but with the help of a spotter these are my last 8 rounds I fired for the day. All shot at 100 yards, M193 5.56mm GI issue ammo (22.5gr IMR-4198), 82°, 20mph wind gusts (yikes), all through the GI irons sights on an issue Colt M16A1 rifle. All in all I'm pretty proud of this rifle, and I love the hell out of it. The best shooting iron sight rifle I've ever fired. Suck it Kalashnikov.

    Great groups, especially for iron sights. Are you leaving it as-is or putting an optic on it?

      I really can't see any reason why I would, this is going to be iron sights only. It out shoots all my buddies EOTech's. I have a long range AR for target shooting. I just couldn't be happier with this thing. I'm pretty sure I could group at 1" without the wind and in less of a rush. It was also about 400 rounds deep without a cleaning and pretty hot at the time.

        The only fucking reason it beats out EOTechs is cuz I am fucking blind and cant see at 100 yards... Wait until contact lenses and we will have rematch .

          and because eotechs aren't known for particularly good 100 yard groups.

          Good shooting, I really enjoy shooting with iron sights.

          I challenge you to a marksmanship challenge. I only have one gun, but it'll get 'R' dun.

                Great groupings, and it sounds like you had a good time shooting. I want an AR bad, but there's no chance having a TX ID in California.

                Maybe next time I'm in Dallas for business I'll have to stop in to the bullet trap and pick one up. Just gotta be sure that it's cali compliant.

                    Does anyone remember the program that calculates groups, MOA, etc. etc.. I forgot the name of it.

                      Very nice. That weapon is very easy to shoot accurately with open sights using a sling IMO, especially from the prone position if you follow the basics.

                            Good groups CJ but for open sights I would use a 10 shot grouping to gauge MOA and zero.

                            I really enjoy open sights on all my ARs. Maybe a National Match upper is in the future for me.

                              hey, lol that weapon looks like what some of our FOBBITS carry around here, they never go outside the wire, but yet they have all this high speed shit. lol and here i am with an m4, magpul grip, Pmags and an acog. i go out at least 6 times a week.
