My super tacticool build

7.62x39.
PSA group buy lower
No name barrel from SSA (bought before the meltdown)
PSA upper
cheap LPK
pieced together bolt carrier from various suppliers
I already had the stock and handguard.
ASC magazines.


Ive got about $300 in this thing. It shoots really good and is surprisingly accurate. I had to do some tweaking to get it to fire reliably, I had to open up and re polish the feed ramps, and turn down the collar on the firing pin so it would hit the hard primer better to get it to fire cheap surplus steel ammo (common problem with these rifles). Now it fires about 7 out of 10 rounds, I ordered heavier hammer springs hoping that will fix the rest of the issue. Even with the issues and tweaking it was still a blast to shoot.

Unless they've came a long way in the last few years stay far away from the C products 7.62x39 specific mags. Had a good friend that went through several but none would consistently work best thing he found was older steel Colt 20rd mags with something like 8-10rds in it.

As much as I love the idea of a good 7.62x39 AR, they just don't work. I'd love to see someone come out with good magazines. I can get past the bolt problems as long as the fucking guns would reliably feed/fire.

I remember an AR15 lower that was made to accept AK mags called the AR47. Only problems is I think they're no longer available.

Rock River has a rifle designed to shoot AK mags, but it uses an proprietary upper.
