A bullet shaped projectile with a base to catch the rifling and 1lb of black powder and elevation maxed out will chunk 10lbs far. It was noting to blow a truck up out to a 1.5 miles and that was only because we couldnt see any further.Originally posted by Silverback View Post5 miles? I've seen smooth bores with sabots chunk them far also.
Bottom line is the shit can get serious.

You're misconstruing light unaerodynamic air powered pumpkin cannons with ballistic powered aerodynamic concentric very heavy bowling balls. A bowling ball is going to be a completely different league as far as distance.Originally posted by Silverback View Postsorry i thought you meant a homemade cannon that shot a 10lb bowling ball, I read your post wrong.

1-2 miles sure. Wasn't it Mythbusters that ended up shooting through a house and van that was 2 miles away with their bowling ball cannon?Originally posted by dee View PostDepending on how it's built a couple of miles isn't anything unrealistic.
5 just seemed a bit far for a 10lb bowling ball.

Long enough tube and the right trajectory I'm sure it would be achievable but probably not very easy to move.Originally posted by Silverback View Post1-2 miles sure. Wasn't it Mythbusters that ended up shooting through a house and van that was 2 miles away with their bowling ball cannon?

My 5miles statement was based on a rifled gun shooting a conical projectile.Originally posted by Silverback View Post1-2 miles sure. Wasn't it Mythbusters that ended up shooting through a house and van that was 2 miles away with their bowling ball cannon?
