I liked the idea of having a left handed side charging upper so i milled a DPMS lo pro upper and tapped the carrier. The knob is 6061 and the bolt is titanium. My food scale says it comes in at 8 grams.

I still have the factory charging handle installed and operational. I need to trim down the bolt release and reinstall too. I forgot to do that earlier.

I'm not sure. I think my charging knob is too fat to accommodate even a modified BAD.

Mainly because I hate the factory charging handle. Both it's location, and the "bindy"/"frictiony" feeling it has. I think I just made those words up. The advantages are I can put the weapon into battery without taking my eyes off the sights or finger off the trigger. I'd smack myself in the face with the factory charging handle. Also, it's great for single shot suppressed. And it acts as a forward assist.

But it's not something I feel I needed. Just something I wanted, and I like having projects here and there to work on.
