It had a range of just under 40 miles and not enough fuel to accelerate for 20 seconds. An odd thing about it is that its skin temperature would exceed the temp of the rockets exhaust from aerodynamic friction and the missile would glow brightly a couple of seconds after being launched. I think it hit mach 10 in under 5 seconds.

Well, yeah. But I've seen approximately zero of them launched in person.

Me either but there was a retired EE that taught a few classes at Richland College that worked on the program that told me about them so I researched them. It was a point defense missile with an atom bomb warhead that was intended to take down inbound nukes. It accelerated at over 100Gs until it was detonated near or upon striking the nuke.
