I would at least let them know the dog has a chip, so that if it gets loose or lost again, it can be found by its new family.Originally posted by bcoop View PostYep. I'd let it go. Hell, even go by and talk to the family to see if they will let you spend some time with her. But don't ask for the dog back... After 2 years.... Unless she's in a bad living situation (not being fed, beaten, etc).
I'm sure grandma knew that dog was chipped back when it came up missing....and it's just been too long to try to reclaim ownershipOriginally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!

FWIW just for you. Previous owners chipped the dog before my grandma adopted it. Got the dog at 8 years old owned her until 15. Shes been gone for two years. Found her. I've already got two other dogs. Grandma is probably a tad bit lonely though... I wouldn't be keeping her again but would give her to my grandma.Originally posted by 78X View PostOn 2nd thought, reading comprehension>me and I think you should just move on and buy another dog.

That dog is set to die any damn day now. I think the loss of the dog to that family, then the death of that dog to your grandma would be far worse.Originally posted by papapepper View PostFWIW just for you. My wife found a stray boxer about 1 1/2 years ago at her school and she brought it home( DOG HAD BEEN THERE 3 DAYS). We took it to SPCA and it had a chip, and they gave us info on chip . We called both #s and left several messages with no response..
If the owner would show up at my house wanting dog back , I probably wound not give it back after this long period, or make him pay me for his maintenance for the last 1.5 years...
