What Collision Center are you using? I usually try to help my customers with the rental pains. The Hartford isn't a horrible company either, you will hopefully be taken care of.

Courtesy or policy, it's still great you told me. It's still worth a shot to try. Since we just bought the car I'll bet it has a decent chance of getting approved. It was a toyota certified pre owned, and if the wreck makes it non-certifiable maybe that will get me some money. Like you said, it doesn't hurt to try, worst thing they can do is tell me no.Originally posted by ComeAgainJen View PostIt's not a policy or rider, it's more of a courtesy that is *sometimes* approved if you build a solid case. If your repairs are on the higher end, they tend to be more willing to approve it, from what I understand. Like most things in life, if you can manage to keep good rapport with the adjuster, they're more willing to increase the settlement.

Still had the dealer tags on it. I'm kind of excited now.

They denied it several times because of a code on the MRI bill. I was double insured. I had switched to Allstate, but USAA had not canceled my policy. They sent me a letter about two months after the wreck, saying that they finally canceled it, so I filed a PIP claim for bills that exceeded Allstate's coverage. They would wait as long as possible, then mail explanation of denial letters. It was ridiculous, and made me glad I switched to Allstate.Originally posted by crooner View PostYou must not have had all the paper work to them. As they have to pay you within 30 days.

That's awesome. I'm sure as hell going to do that as soon as the car gets out of the shop.Originally posted by ComeAgainJen View PostAfter all of the repairs are done to your liking and inspected by the adjuster, contact the adjuster and tell them you want to set up a diminished value claim.
Go to several dealerships, and get a quote for what they'd offer for your car with a clean autocheck and with the accident. Also have them write a quote for what they'd retail the car for clean and repaired.
Take the difference between all three of your clean quotes, and average them, then do the same with the wrecked quotes, and turn it in.
I asked for $4,500, they offered $1,500, and we settled on $3,500. They won't always approve it, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I'm not surprised. Any agent that wants to stay in biz has to get involved. It's good that you will if asked.Originally posted by MutherjuggZ View PostABSOLUTELY!!! Ya know what else? We're told/required to stay OUT of the claims process.
Wanna know what else else? Any agent that follows those rules is a pussy push over that works for the company and not the customer.

I'd recommend going with Motherjuggz...I'm in the process of switching over, because she rocks.
Also, you may want to look at going after their insurance company for diminished value. It's quite a bit of red tape, but was worth the effort.

lol, true dat.Originally posted by GE View PostWhat if he rented a Ferrari?
Insurance companies will only pay around $25.00ish a day and at most a 30 day limit. Anything more/longer will have to be paid by the customer.

They have actually been great since day one ( I have USAA ). All the BS is coming from the woman's company that hit me. But, I did expect all this BS when my wife was hit because I know how insurance companies can be.
