Got a relatively small bill in the mail today for $16.80. Problem is I sold this damn truck in 12/09. I traded it in at a dealer on another car back in 2009. Anyone had any dealings with the Toll folks? I just got it and called, but they close at 1630 hours.

This is terrible advice. The dealership will tell you to get bent, lol.Originally posted by Muffrazr View PostUnless you submitted the form to the DMV releasing you from ownership of the truck, then you are liable for the charges.
I would pay the fine, take the receipt to the dealership, and see if they will reimburse you.
The same thing happened to me, I called them, took awhile to get through, they took it off my account. I sold the car private party nearly a year previous, sent in the form, the car has a new 7 character license plate, I have a toll tag, yet they sent me a bill in the mall as if I didn't for the car I no longer own that has a new plate.
Basically what I think happens is they send the bill to the new owner and previous owner in hopes that you see a bill for just a couple bucks and pay it. Nearly free money for them.US Politics in three words - Divide and Conquer

tanner had this happen to me.....call and let ntta know that the car was trader/sold to a dealer back when ever......tell them you have the paperwork from it....the dealer is at fault since they never moved it over to their name and then sold it someone and never forced it to their name.
Just call and let them know that you have paperwork showing the trade in.....and call the dealer and ask why they never moved it out of your name.......Your local VW parts Master.....need a part?

Well, the dealership doesn't transfer the car into their name, they just use the dealer reassign form on the back of the title. That dealer is in some SERIOUS shit if they sold it without transferring the title. Now it is possible that the car has just been floating around from dealer to dealer and someone test drove it through the toll road. In that case, you just need to call em.Originally posted by thedriver33 View Posttanner had this happen to me.....call and let ntta know that the car was trader/sold to a dealer back when ever......tell them you have the paperwork from it....the dealer is at fault since they never moved it over to their name and then sold it someone and never forced it to their name.

yeah same thing happen to me. I didn't pay a $13 dollar ticket then they sent me a $350 dollar bill for fines etc. Just to be a smart ass I sent in the $13. They returned my check and said it went to collections. I never heard a word figuring I'd have to barter. Then I receive a bill from NTTA a month ago for the original $13 on the same dates. I sent in my $13 that same day.Originally posted by kanetrain View PostI had a $28.00 bill from the NTTA one time and "forgot" to pay it... it turned into almost $15,000!!!!!! I ended up having to pay around $220 for the whole thing. Learned my lesson... I don't "forget" NTTA bills anymore.Murph

it also works if in any case that your on wrong side of the billing. Just say that you just got the first notice.....and 95% of the time they will drop their crazy fees and let you pay the orignal toll amount......thats how you drop it from 900$ to 34.25$ ,lolYour local VW parts Master.....need a part?

Mine wasn't when they sent me a bill. I'm telling y'all - they bill both parties just hoping the previous owner will pay too.US Politics in three words - Divide and Conquer

I am curious about this. A buddy of mine bought a cash car from some shady dealer on 121. When he went to register the car(he lives in Houston) he was unable to do so, they told him there was a problem with the title, and that he needed to take it up with the dealer to get it registered.Originally posted by JC316 View PostThat dealer is in some SERIOUS shit if they sold it without transferring the title.
He contacted the dealer, who apologized and promised to get it figured out asap. The dealer then stopped answering his calls, and he was basically left holding his dick with a car that he is unable to register.
He is in the process of getting a lawyer friend to send a certified letter, but is there any other recourse in the meantime? Would there be a legal issue that would warrant getting LE involved, or is he just screwed?2016 Chevrolet SS 6M
