The SEALs use multiple handguns in missions. They've used the SIG P226 along with H&K MK23 SOCOM.

P226 can be chambered in 9mm or .40. I believe the MK23 is .45.

I'm not the pro, but I'd opt for any round as long as it has a "4" in it.

I have no clue where the talk of him being shot with a pistol came up. I was simply replying to the comment about the SEALs using the Sig P226 at one point, so I replied with what I know they've used in the past. I highly doubt he was shot with a pistol.
