I agree with you, I loved the place (Maui) but I just couldn't live there. The food is awesome, just don't know if I could go with out good Mexican food.

the only food that I can say I liked was a little place in Honolulu called 12th ave grill, Outback prime rib (company pays so I ate there a LOT), and some little place toward the east that had Loco Moco.. I had never had one or even heard of it but MAN it was good.
Loco Moco is white rice topped with a hamburger patty and a Sunnyside-up egg, and then smothered in gravy

Oahu has about 5 real mexican joints, and numerous good tex mex joints (I like myself some Sopes, and some fresh made Churros so, I rarely inhabit the tex mex places). All of them are out of the way, hole in the wall places. If you like sushi I can recommend a place or two that will blow your mind.

whats the sushi place.. I went to a few last time i was there.. the best being some place in a strip mall on the second story...

On Kauai I went to a place the I had some kind of ox tail soup or something.. it was a U shaped table about knee high and I was the only white guy there.. the locals looked at me like I was crazy, but I was with a local other wise I would have never gone in there.

No thanks I've been several times. I was on the islands for 3 months at a time for 3 different years. This probably my 5th or 6th trip there
