No, they'll just wait until you have a claim and say you never had coverage. If you never do have one then they keep taking your money. It is a win-win for them.

Done and done. There is never any guarantee though that court personnel will correctly process your paperwork.

Yeah it's odd taking defensive driving to dismiss a violation and then using same to get an insurance discount, but I've done so several times.

At least that's how I remeber it. We need a lightning bolt symbol for emphasis.

I drive for work. A lot. Tickets are just part of it. I don't get a crazy amount of them. In fact, I went some 6-7 years without one. But when you are on the road constantly like I am, you're bound to get caught slipping in one manner or another. I make mistakes, just as everyone else.

Tickets? I've never outright pled guilty and paid the fine for any ticket in Texas. Always had them dismissed through defensive driving or deferred adjudication, along with payment of the associated fees of course. I call it taking care of business.

Surcharges is what got me. Beyond DWI cases, I didn't know surcharges existed. Let me clarify, since you like to say I'm always crying about the cops. My bitch isn't with the cops. it's having to pay a fine twice. Either way, I took my lumps, forked over an absurd amount of money, and am going about my merry way. 'twas a rather expensive way to learn about the surcharge program though. I'd have rather just learned about it by the state sending me a bill in the mail, rather than a Trooper asking me "Were you aware your license was suspended?". Oh well. It's only money.

I understand what you are saying but honestly, when it comes to the courts its every man for himself. They do not care about your financial situation. And, most courts now require you to have a job before they will setup a payment plan.
