Gas Pump Etiquette

if you want to really use the term "need", there's nobody that "needs" a diesel, if they're driving a 1-ton or under pickup. there are gas motors that will pull anything that the 3/4 and 1-ton trucks are capable of pulling or hauling...they just won't do it as well, won't last as long, won't get as good of mileage, and will have almost no resale value.Originally posted by grove rat View Postdamn, that is actually a pretty good point
the people that i know that 'need' diesels are pulling around hundreds and hundreds of pounds of tools and equipment that they might need on a jobsite

Being someone who is terrible about blown money...I never use the cheaper argument to get what I want mg289.

It's not really even an argument about what is cheaper. To me it's about ROI.Originally posted by mustangguy289 View PostPeople that trully NEED a diesel don't use the cheaper argument. They simply say they need it. The people who WANT the diesel use the cheaper argument.

I hate people who use cash at the pump when I get stuck behind them.

Which is why I don't buy the bs argument that the diesel is cheaper. If you need a diesel then by all means you need a diesel.
People must not realize how long gas vehicles last now days...
We all do it with everything in life to justify when we want something more than we need. There is nothing wrong with having what you want.

at least they're only pumping $5 worth of gas, so they're gone pretty quickly!Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostWhat pisses me off is all the gangsters and thugs pulling up blasting their fucking music loud as shit while they pump $5 of gas into their impala. I'm so fucking sick of it, sooner or later I'm going to snap.

I do it myself when I get the chance, but it's probably a 50/50 split because I may be off in BFE when it's time for a change, and if I have time to kill, I will stop and have someone else do it. I think $70 is the standard price for a shop to change using Rotella (diesel oil).Originally posted by mustangguy289 View Post6 qts of motorcraft and a motorcraft filter. I do the change myself. I assumed since 70 and 100 were thrown out that the $70 was the do it yourself price?

i was thinking the same thing, though i went ahead and used that figure in my earlier post. i think that i've been paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $30, but i don't remember for sure. a friend told me that allen samuel's dodge does oil changes for $10...i may have to check on the price of their diesel oil changes.Originally posted by bcoop View PostI haven't had a $20 oil change in 10 years.... Where are you going and what are you using?
