Meh, North Korea would be in great shape if WWI came back and artillery and infantry waves were the determining factor. They can't even keep the lights on in most of that dump, how are they going to fight any sort of war?

Voting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

That's how I'm picturing it. They're funded about as well as the insurgents out here. Every day after these Iraqis get paid, we get a little incoming, then we're safe until the next payday.

I don't think the war would be....very difficult to win in the long run. However, a lot of people would die during NK's initial assault. Tech or not, there has to be some concessions to mass amounts of people thrown at a perceived problem.

South Korea, in no way, wants any part of that fight. Yes, NK's shit is old. But rockets and artillery still do just as much damage as they did back then. Seoul's infrastructure would be devastated, people decimated, and their economic hub crushed. It wouldn't be a war, but it would be a few days of NK throwing everything they've got until they run out and have to rely on logistics trains.
Would NK be easy to clean up from our point of view? Yes, assuming China doesn't want to play (which it doesn't seem like they do). But not until well after they had done their damage.

*edit: damnit, didn't read past your post.
I just have a real hard time believing that a country that can't feed its own people and starts shit to get handouts is going to mobilize a million men into anything but a giant circle jerk. That's all.

Well two things....
1. They've had 60 years to come up with a gameplan.
2. Just cause their political leadership is insane, does not mean their military folks are not able to hedge their bets for the most possible damage in a short period of time.
Understand, from my point of view I want to think your opinion is right. I just think these days anything is possible from idiotic country leadership....to include our own.

We have a pussy for a leader. He doesn't know what action or consequences are. 2012 can not get here fast enough.
What do you want him to do? The first strike would cause NK to retaliate and guess who gets the kitchen sink thrown at them, it won't be us. What ever we do is up to Lee Myung Bak. It is his country's capital with 10 million people in it that gets wiped off the earth if this were to change to open conflict. The scary part of that is NK won't have to use a nuke, the conventional weapons they have pointed at Seoul are enough to devastate it.
(just so it's clear I am not trying to say Nobama is not a pussy)
