Actually - Duncan and Connor were called highlanders because they were from the Highlands of Scotland - the immortals were actually aliens, as I recall from the 2nd movie.

The second movie never existed, it is Highlander blasphemy. It came from an Argentina craphole production whose only goals were to compete with major hollywood films of the time. By strict Highlander rules, they are NOT aliens, and going by the series, Connor wasn't the last immortal, thus ruling out the possible story of the second one.
