I got a 120 hrz 1080p Sammy and I'm not impressed with the 120hrz. Also, the black sucks on my LCD.

I went from a 720p 32" 60hrz to a 1080p 42" 120hrz and the difference is mind blowing. On a 42" I cannot tell a definitive "buy me" difference between 120 and 240

true that, my 50" plasma panny gets hot as fuck-but the picture is unreal.

How old is your plasma? I've heard that the newer plasma's don't put out nearly as much heat as they used too. I was wondering how true that was or if it was just a sales tactic.
I need to do a little more research before I decide which direction I'm going, but I'm leaning towards plasma for the price.

Wal-Mart has a 40in samsung led for $798. Not sure which hz it was.

It's 60hz. Most of their tvs are under 120hz.

I need to do a little more research before I decide which direction I'm going, but I'm leaning towards plasma for the price.

Mine is a 2010 series 50" Panasonic Viera TC model doesn't get hot at all. Just warm to the touch after running for several hours.

I was looking at the DLP's myself. I have a 42 lcd Vizio in my living room now,but my tv in bed room went out . My thoughts are to move the 42 in the bedroom and get a bigger one for the living . My tv has to go in the corner ,so flat mounts don't matter. How does the picture compare on DLP/LCD and Plasma's ..

240hz gives the picture more depth and 3d look. It will make movies look like soap operas. Blu rays look phenomenal on them. With that said I wouldn't get anything over 50" in LCD as that's when your blacks really start running together. Todays plasmas don't have as much of the burn-in issues that they did when they first came out. That said I've see. 240hz LCDs with a better picture quality than some 600hz plasmas so it does depends on make/model/brand. If your going less than 50-55 I'd get the LED LCD 240hz.

And there isn't much noticeable difference between 60hz and 120hz unless it's a 120hz anti motion blur then it's got close to a 240hz quality picture.

How does the picture compare on DLP/LCD and Plasma's ..

I couldn't tell a difference with the picture on the DLP to Plasma or LCD/ LED-LCD, but the DLP does have a smaller viewing angle. If you're not sitting on the couch at eye level with the TV almost straight on most of the picture will be black.
