Bahaha! Jesus tap tancing christ. Every fucking ticket issued turns into an FTP debate. Don't break the law, regardless of how 'petty', and you wouldn't receive a ticket. End of debate.
If you want to black out the tailights, then, by all means do so. Just don't cry when you get another ticket. As for what you "think" is legal or not, well, then take the citation to court and battle it out there. An internet forum is not going to resolve your issue.

I probably wouldn't write anyone a citation for that unless they had a bad attitude.

so much for being a public service, just a fuking vending machine for the court system. you can beat the ticket due to the fact there was no valid cause of action. also because in the civil rights (texas included) you have the right to travel without harassment or interference. a drivers licence by legal definition was created for when cattle "driver's" crossed city/ county/ state lines. they received monies and had to register (get a license) By all rights and legal definition, you do not have to have a drivers license to travel. And state/ city law can not deny your civil rights.Originally posted by bcoop View PostYou asshole!
What a petty fucking ticket. Seriously.
and for those who come back question this, do yourself a favor and read your civil rights, it's in there.

I like my lights just the same as my women and my coffee....Originally posted by GE View PostWhat the hell is the point of "blacking out" your tail lamps? So other driver's can't see quite as well when you hit your brakes? Good job!

Obviously I can't post night pics but it still emits a red light and it wasnt red reflective in the entire housing to begin with. I also still have a plain third brake light.Originally posted by Osiris View PostHow so? Did you overlook the traffic code I posted showing all the places that it's illegal? It's legit. Dark as shit is a safety hazard. Going off what he posted, I bet they light up just fine and are plenty visible. They are still red reflectors, just like they are supposed to be. And that cop is full of shit writing that ticket in the daytime, when he has no fucking clue if they are visible at 1000 ft. In fact, that would be my argument to the court. I'd take pictures, at night, at 1000 ft. And show the pictures he has there, because, unless you're blind, they are red...Originally posted by Osiris View PostIt's a safety hazard. If you can't see the light output, it's an accident risk.
Like I said, petty, bullshit, revenue generating ticket.

So, what if I walked in the court and argued the difference between dark red, and red? Just going off the fact it is "red" isn't really a solid basis for the ticket.Originally posted by Osiris View PostIt's a legit citation. Red reflectors are required on the rear of the vehicle on both sides. The light also has to be visible at 1,000 ft.
I am not saying these are good things to have, I think they are a hazard. But there has to be a better wording for the law.
